ROCHESTER, N.Y. – TLF Graphics is a UL-certified label supplier, a Gracol certified master printer, and is ISO 9001:2008 certified. The business is focused on the production of industrial labeling, product decoration and retail signage. Driven by a combination of quick-turn requirements from customers, the challenges of handling multiple SKUs and the need to reduce inventory, TLF Graphics sought a digital solution for its durable label business. The company selected the Durst Tau LFS 330 UV Inkjet Digital Label Press in 2015.
After one year, TLF Graphics reports that its Tau has generated new revenue, reduced costs and improved efficiency in operations. The average order size for the Tau is nearly double what the company runs on other presses. “Since the installation of the Tau, we’ve acquired a substantial amount of new business we never expected,” Bob McJury, partner and owner at TLF Graphics, said recently. “We’re generating revenue from our ability to produce sizes and lengths we could never have produced before. With the quantities that we’re receiving, there is just no other way to get the work done. It’s gone beyond what we expected in terms of generating new revenue.”
TLF Graphics has been very impressed with the Tau LFS 330’s speed, remarkable white ink opacity, and variable imaging capability. “It’s truly as close as you can get to rotary screen printing – and our customers agree,” McJury said. TLF Graphics has also been able to transfer much of its labor-intensive screen printing work to the Tau, with impressive cost savings, he added.
A year into their relationship with Durst, TLF Graphics couldn’t be happier. “Above and beyond the machine itself, Durst has been here to service and support us – as if it was their own company,” McJury said.
TLF Graphics describes its adoption of digital imaging and its experience with the Tau LFS 330 in two new videos, which can be viewed via these links:

Tau LFS 330
Durst’s Tau LFS 330 integrates a new in-line digital laser finishing system into the Tau 330, incorporating state-of-the-art laser die cutting technology from Spartanics and a powerful 1,000-watt laser that delivers precise speed matching, automatic job changeovers and a significant reduction in waste. This permits the management of multiple jobs in a single pass and virtually uninterrupted printing for previously unattainable productivity.
While delivering high image quality output in a total digital end-to-end workflow, the Tau LFS 330 also achieves superior print and cut quality on a broad range of substrates – papers, films, polyester, polycarbonates, metalized material and more. It offers high flexibility in terms of cutting applications – including kiss, through, perforate, engrave, mark and score. UV coating, lamination and slitting options can be added to the system for more finishing versatility.
